Yoane Wissa has publicly requested to leave Brentford before the transfer window closes, issuing a statement on social media stating that he wants to join Newcastle United and criticizing Brentford for blocking his move despite what he describes as earlier assurances from the club.

Wissa Demands Brentford Exit
In his Instagram post, Wissa revealed that earlier discussions with Brentford’s senior management and the new head coach assured him that he would be allowed to leave if a fair offer was made—an agreement he claims was given in writing. He expressed frustration that, as the window nears its end, Brentford has "significantly changed its position," contradicting the club’s initial commitment. Wissa insists that being forced to stay against his wishes would tarnish his four years at Brentford and calls on the owners and directors to "keep their word" and permit his transfer.
Newcastle United had already made an offer of £35 million plus add-ons earlier this summer, which Brentford rejected. Wissa has not participated in matches this season, nor has he been training with the main squad, after making clear his intention to leave; this stance was reportedly evident when he left early from the club’s pre-season camp in Portugal.
The situation remains fluid, with Brentford yet to comment publicly and the transfer window hours from closing.
